Harvard Indigenous Leadership Seminar

I recently participated in a five day intensive leadership seminar co-taught by Indigenous leaders and science and policy experts. It was brought to us by the Arctic Initiative at the Harvard Kennedy School of Government, the Association of World Reindeer Herders (WRH), the International Centre for Reindeer Husbandry (ICR), Arctic Council Indigenous Peoples Secretariat and the UArctic EALÁT Institute.

I was very honored to share this seminar with incredible Indigenous scholars, activists, students, and knowledge holders and I learned as much from the other participants as I did from our professors and mentors. Instead of sharing what we learned in our small community of leaders, I’ll share some of what others are working on:

Deenaalee Hodgdon - Creator of On the Land podcast - https://www.onthelandmedia.org/home

Seqininnguaq Lynge Poulsen - Co-author on Through Their Eyes book on human rights - http://www.humanrightscolumbia.org/news/global-indigenous-youth-through-their-eyes

Susanna Israelsson - Vice President of Sáminuorra youth association - https://www.euronews.com/2018/12/06/it-s-really-scary-indigenous-europeans-on-why-they-are-taking-the-eu-to-court-over-climat

There were certainly many more incredible youth leaders in this seminar. I look forward to seeing where each of us goes in this lifetime.
