Background on the Conference

The Northern Sustainable Development Forum is held annually in Yakutsk, Russia. This year I had the chance to attend online due to coronavirus restrictions on international travel. It brings together researchers and policy makers around issues of sustainable development across the Arctic, though its focus is primarily in Russia. More on the Forum here.

This conference was also the first Northern Youth Forum that brought together young professionals interested in climate change, ecology, resource development, and Indigenous and cultural issues. You can read more about the Youth Forum here.

As part of the Northern Youth Forum portion of the larger conference, I gave a presentation entitled:

The Arctic Wetlands and Indigenous Peoples Study: lessons for improving ecological research in Indigenous homelands

If you’re interested in watching, you can find a recording of my presentation viewable on google drive here.
